The second you meet this well developed character, you'll be hooked. I didn't know what to expect from reading the title. I always hesitate before picking up any book that does not fall within my favorite genre Sci Fi to read, but who doesn't enjoy a cool mystery that'll keep you turning pages and guessing as the events unfold? Joan H. Young has a unique way with words that can easily transport you from your living room or bed right into this cozy yet slightly peculiar town, where Ana Raven had integrated. It all takes place at the edge of Dead Mule Swamp. You follow the mystery from Ana's point of view, which makes it even more interesting and fun, because her thought process is right there with yours.
I was intrigued and taken by the imagery and the portrayal of the various characters, who I now feel are people I could have actually met, sat with, ate with and solved mysteries with.
As I was nearing the end, I truly thought to myself, I'd have paid more for a story like this. Sometimes, good reads are so worth the bucks put into them. I'm definitely going to buy the rest of the series, because I'm already wondering what Ana is up to now! I heard there's a secret hidden in a hollow tree somewhere. Wonderfully well written! Christine Lehman reviewed on on Feb. This was a great book to read on a cold snowy day. I loved how she developed all the characters and described her surroundings so well- the images were easily created in my mind.
The author's love of nature shone through in the occasional appearance of a native bird. The story itself was well-developed and so compelling that I didn't want to put it down!
I highly recommend this read, and am looking forward to the author's next mystery! Jean Knill reviewed on on Dec. Meticulously written with no bad proofreading distractions. I know one member- she twisted my arm to start going. I'm not exactly enjoying it yet, but I think it will be helpful. So I think it's imperative for visibility. Of course, that's enough to keep a writer pounding the keys. Generally, the story is light and small-town- along the lines of "The Cat Who For sure, I have to write something that is salable, and this may be it. Gave my newest program yesterday in Rockford. Since I no longer do programs for free I did get paid. They said they loved the program, "best they've ever had," blah, blah, but I didn't sell a single book.
It's used, of course, and needs a new bulb, but this is a wonderful piece of good news and will relieve the stress that attends every program I give, now that I've gone digital.

My next program is April 28, and I'll be ready with my own projector! I already have a program in May, and one in June, too.
Got a call for another program last week. Didn't sell any North Country Cache, but sold 2 puzzle books and a photo card. Made myself go to the local writer's group on Tuesday I still don't feel too comfortable. But it was good, because it forced me into writing another chapter of News from Dead Mule Swamp. The BODY has now been found I wasn't sure just how that was going to happen, so I feel as if I'm over a tiny hump. Hey- I'm on chapter 12 of News from Dead Mule Swamp and I could use some objective comments about whether the end of the chapter creeps you out.
